Energy Efficiency: Reducing Our Carbon Footprint
A major part of XYG’s sustainability strategy focuses on reducing energy consumption and emissions. In 2023, we achieved a 6% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to the previous year. Through various initiatives, the utilization of renewable energy within our facilities reached 4.8%, including solar power and residual heat generation.
One of our most impactful programs has been the introduction of solar power in all our industrial parks across China and Malaysia. Solar energy is converted into electricity for use in our production lines, reducing dependence on traditional energy sources. Natural gas, a cleaner alternative, powers our float glass production lines at every production site, reducing pollution further.
In addition, XYG has implemented low-temperature residual heat generation stations. This facility converts the heat from glass melting furnaces into usable energy. It contributes to reducing emissions of gases like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
Water Conservation: Significant Reductions in Usage
Water is another crucial resource that XYG is working hard to conserve. In 2023, we reduced our water consumption by 2,708.1 thousand tons, representing a 20.5% decrease from the previous year. Through enhanced water purification processes and wastewater recycling, we have significantly reduced the amount of water used in our production processes. Our goal is to continue driving toward zero water discharge.
Waste Control: Reducing, Reusing, Recycling and Replacing
Our commitment to waste control is guided by the principles of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Replace.” In 2023, we reduced hazardous waste by a substantial 38.7% compared to the previous year. Strict protocols for handling and processing materials like empty drums, light tubes, and ink cartridges contributed to this result.
Greener Products: Combining Sustainability with Performance
At XYG, sustainability extends beyond our manufacturing process and into the products we create. Our Solar-X heat reflective windshield is a prime example of how we are innovating to reduce environmental impact. It blocks over 60% of heat radiation from sunlight, reducing the need for air conditioning in vehicles. This turns into lowering fuel consumption. It also blocks over 99% of UV light, protecting both the interior of the vehicle and the people inside. In the architectural sector, our Low-E glass is designed to maximize energy efficiency in buildings. This glass reflects heat from sunlight in the summer and retains warmth indoors during the winter. It drastically reduces the energy required for heating and cooling.

Our sustainability efforts are guided by strict internal procedures. These include air pollution control, environmental monitoring, and energy management. XYG is certified by international standards such as ISO14001 for environmental management, ISO45001 for occupational health and safety, and ISO50001 for energy management.
